BSNL to provide high speed internet connectivity in all GPs of 12 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, May 4: BSNL on Thursday signed a MoU with OCAC and OPTCL to provide high speed internet connectivity to all the areas up to GP level in 12 Odisha districts in the second phase.

The agreement was signed in presence of Minister of State Electronics & Information Technology Tushar Kanti Behera.

In the first phase 18 districts of Odisha were covered with BharatNet being maintained by BSNL.

In the second Phase 12 districts —Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nowrangpur and Angul were covered which was executed by OPTCL, under State led Model.

With Signing of MOU, BSNL will utilize the OFC infrastructure of Bharatnet Phase-II in rolling out high speed Internet services in 12 districts of Odisha apart from other district.

It is expected that about 20000 FTTH connections will be provided in these 12 districts during this Financial Year 2023-24.

BSNL is providing Broadband service to the people of Odisha in Urban as well as rural areas. At present more than 1.1 Lakhs Broadband connections are working in every part of Odisha through Optical Fibre & Copper network.

BharatNet project with funding by USOF was launched to provide high speed Internet connectivity to every nook and corner of the state by the union government.

It will enable using BharatNet infrastructure available in Phase-II areas to provide broadband service in rural areas in the State.

BSNL will also be in a position now to provide about 80000 FTTH connections in Odisha in this financial year.

This will also fulfill the objective to Increase rural tele density in the state and will provide reliable media in rural areas under National Digital Communication Policy 2018.

BSNL will provide Bharat Fibre in Rural areas under BharatNet Udyami Connections at a nominal rate of Rs. 399/pm with 30Mbps Speed with unlimited download facility.

Under BharatNet Udyami scheme customers have to pay the user charges only.No payments are to be made by the Customer for getting a connection.

Further, BSNL is also engaging rural entrepreneurs as partner by providing an attractive commission upto Rs. 4820 for each connection.

BSNL will provide internet to the rural areas with a plan as low as Rs. 399 under Ghar Ka Wifi Plan.

In the district of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Balangir and Sonepur a plan with minimum monthly rent @ 329/ is working on a promotional basis.

Customers can also avail more facilities like OTT services in a plan @ 666 @ 799 @ 999.
