VP Dhankhar interacts with members of Indian community, Indian-origin MPs of UK Parliament

New Delhi, May 6: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is in London, interacted with members of the Indian community and also spoke with the Indian-origin Members of the UK Parliament.

The Indian Vice President also spoke with Akshata Murty, the wife of the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Israeli President Isaac Herzog during a reception hosted by UK’s King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Friday.

In tweets, the MEA spokesperson said:

“Connecting with the living bridge between India and the UK!

VP Jagdeep Dhankhar @VPIndia interacted with members of the Indian Community in London, UK.

“VP appreciated the community members for their contributions to the society and lending strength to India-Great Britain relationship.”

On VP Dhankhar’s meeting with the Indian-origin members of the UK parliament, he posted:

“VP Jagdeep Dhankhar @VPIndia had engaging conversations with Indian-origin Members of the UK Parliament belonging to various parties.

“Discussions touched upon multiple aspects of bilateral ties. VP lauded the support extended by the MPs in bringing the two countries closer.”

The Vice President’s Office in tweets on his meetings said that he interacted with Dr. Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States of America, during the reception by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.

He also engaged in a conversation with Akshata Murty, wife of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, during the reception at Buckingham Palace.

Vice President Dhankhar interacted with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar is in London to attend the Coronation ceremony of King Charles III on behalf of the Government of India.

India and UK have historic relationship and share values of democracy, rule of law and many complementarities and convergences. The relationship was elevated to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2021 with the adoption of Roadmap 2030 for Future Relations, a statement said.
