Cong alleges BJP’s plot to kill Kharge and family, Bommai says will enquire

Bengaluru, May 6: An alleged statement by BJP candidate Manikanta Rathod of “wiping out” AICC President Mallikarjun Kahrge’s family in a purported audio shared on social media, has been picked up by the Congress and labeled as an assassination plot.
Reacting to it, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, “The matter will be taken seriously and initiated an enquiry, and if there is some wrongdoing or intention to do it, the law will take its own course.”
Rathod also dismissed the allegation by rubbishing it as a lie and Congress is doing it out of fear of defeat in the election.
After playing the audio in a press conference here, Surjewala said an ugly plot to kill Kharge and his entire family by the BJP is the lowest level that a party can stoop to.
“Intimidated by the allround blessings of Kannadigas being showered on the Congress party, and facing a complete rout in the ensuing Karnataka election, BJP leaders are hatching a plot to murder Mallikarjun Kharge and also his family members.
“This is clear from the audio recording of the BJP candidate from Chittapur, who also happens to be the blue-eyed boy of Narendra Modi and Basavaraj Bommai,” he said.
